Over 7,300 pounds of leftover Halloween candy, contributed by kids and others from Wellesley and surrounding communities, was hauled to the offices of Wellesley dentists Femina and Ejaz Ali last week in order to package it up and send off along with notes of support to U.S. troops overseas.
Wellesley schools, police, clubs, the National Guard and others joined forces to make the annual effort a success — with the amount of candy donated outweighing a Humvee that was on hand Friday at a celebratory event.
“It has been so touching to see the message of health and giving being spread across our community,” the Drs. Ali wrote.
