Turkey5 road race organizers would be thankful for more volunteers

Wellesley turkey trotThe 2nd annual Turkey5 Thanksgiving morning road race in Wellesley has already drawn twice as many participants at this point as it had a year ago, leading organizers to project 2,000 runners in two weeks.

However, the number of volunteers hasn’t kept pace so far, so the Turkey5 team is putting out a call for more help to make the 5K and 5 mile races go off smoothly. Volunteer sign-up is at racemenu.com/turkey5volunteer

Organizers are still seeking more than 100 volunteers to help with various needs such as:

  • packet stuffing
  • number pick-up
  • t-shirt distribution
  • start/finish construction
  • sound system setup
  • course setup
  • course marshals
  • water stations
  • chip collection
  • cleanup crew
All volunteers get a t-shirt and any organization which recruits at least 10 volunteers will also be considered a beneficiary of the event and receive a financial donation from the Turkey5. Proceeds from the race are used to support organizations that support cancer research and more.
