Wellesley Choral Society starts its new season with a concert at the Unitarian Universalist Society of Wellesley Hills Church, 309 Washington Street on Nov. 24 at 3pm.
The entire concert is dedicated to the music of Claudio Monteverdi (1567-1643). From his large output a selection of sacred works, madrigals and opera choruses will be performed. Examples are: Adoramus Te, Ave Maria, Cantate Domino, L’Orfeo (excerpts) and many more. Also his most famous solo piece, Lasciate Mi Morire, is on the program. The chorus and soloists are accompanied by harpsichord and – for some pieces – classical guitar.
The church is handicapped accessible and free parking is available in the church lot as well as on the street. Tickets at the door: $20 general admission; $15 seniors and students; free under 12 yrs.
