Wellesley’s Rockland Street bridge, which underwent construction in 2012 and re-opened early last year, is going to be halfway out of commission for a month starting on Wednesday, Jan. 8.
National Grid will begin work to install a new natural gas line over the bridge, and that’s going to require the northbound lane of traffic over the bridge (from the Washington/Forest Street side) to be closed daily to traffic. You’ll have to use the Kingsbury Street bridge instead.
The southbound lane of travel from Rockland/Linden Street will be open to traffic. Pedestrian traffic will not be affected.
The lane closure will take place daily from 9AM to 3PM. Police officers will be on scene to assist with traffic. The bridge will be fully open at all other times.
Wellesley Police expect work should be complete in mid-February, weather permitting.
The bridge had gas main issues during the 2012-2013 construction as well.

“Over” the bridge?
Over as in over the railcut, from Washington St. to Rockland St.?

Actually not clear on that ourselves…
