Update noon:
Babson: “Massachusetts State Police Bomb Squad technicians successfully/safely conducted a controlled detonation of the suspicious device. All clear.”
No tweets or press releases issued by the typically social media- and blog-happy police or college about whether what was blown up was actually some sort of bomb.
More from the Globe, which quotes a Wellesley PD official who referred to the device in question as “what appears to be a pipe with a piece of small copper tubing coming out of the top and what looks like to be a rubber base to it.’’
Babson College tweeted out Friday AM that a suspicious device had been discovered near its Executive Conference Center and was being investigated by school and Wellesley Police. Babson said people should steer clear of there this morning.
Wellesley Police told the Townsman bomb technicians and a robot were on the way to investigate further.
