Tired of traveling all the way to Waltham or Spain just to get some decent tapas? Come summer Bocado, an authentic Spanish tapas restaurant, will open at 45 Church St. in the former Paper Source location. (Paper Source is still with us. They moved last year to 50 Central St.).
The 3,000 square foot space will seat 110 for lunch and dinner, including a bar that will seat 10. A peek at its Worcester location’s menu makes us look forward to the Atun de Bocado (raw tuna with lemon basil crema, sweet potato chips, and chili avocado), the Conejo de Blanco (slow braised rabbit in white wine, garlic, and fresh thyme reduction with rustic toast), and the Casmiento (sliced steak with rice, beans, and vegetables, with picquillo chimichurri sauce).
Owner Mike Covino and his business partners looked at Wellesley as a place that “already supports destination dining for restaurants Blue Ginger and Alta Strada,” and therefore seemed like a good fit for the type of dining experience Bocado offers.
Bocado is part of a restaurant resurgence in town led by The Local, which opened in November. In addition, the owner of Sweet Basil in Needham plans to open a new restaurant where Milestone currently operates, in Wellesley Square.
