Wellesley school budget approved, paving way for May override vote

The Wellesley School Committee on Tuesday approved the $64M operating/capital budget requests put forth by the public school administration.

The budget is up 7% over the last one and more than 5% higher than the town-mandated guideline, so will require a tax cap override vote be put to the public, most likely in May.

The increased budget proposal would cover the cost of moving to full-day kindergarten and other efforts in line with the superintendent’s strategic plan for the school system.
