Family and friends of Wellesley’s Benjamin Siedman will mourn for the 17-year-old but also celebrate his life at a memorial service this Thursday, Feb. 13 at 3pm at Village Church. Siedman died this past Friday, following a long battle with Sanfilippo Syndrome, a rare and fatal inherited genetic disorder.
Siedman died peacefully, surrounded by his family. He is remembered as a boy who loved life, the comfort of a four-legged friend be it a cow or dog, a good check against the boards, music, Chinese food and holding hands.
Siedman’s courage inspired the creation of Ben’s Dream, which was started in celebration of his 5th birthday. The outfit is leading the charge to find a cure for Sanfilippo Syndrome — a cure that backers of the group believe is near. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Ben’s Dream: Sanfilippo Research Foundation, PO 81268, Wellesley MA 02481. And for those attending the memorial service, Ben’s dad Stuart encourages people to wear their “crazy socks” in Ben’s honor.
We pass along our condolences to Ben’s family and friends.
