The annual Wellesley High School Film Festival is just around the corner, on May 19 (free, open to the public from 6-9pm at the WHS auditorium), and students are scrambling to get their submissions in by the May 12 deadline.
With so many students now armed with video cameras in the form of smartphones 24/7, the potential for film inspiration is never-ending.
Wellesley High seniors Dash Ankermann and Gaelen Harsch are orchestrating this year’s event as their Senior Project and are still encouraging their peers to submit films for consideration (here’s their Facebook page promoting the event). Ankermann says TV video students are actually required to submit for the festival, so he expects a last-minute flood of entries.
Prizes will include gift cards and more, as films are recognized in categories such as animation, commercials, sports and music.
