The Wellesley Women Artisans invite the public to take part in a unique community art event on May 17 during Wellesley’s Wonderful Weekend: Vinyl LP records reclaimed from the Wellesley Recycling & Disposal Facility will be painted and displayed in a “beautiful and dramatic exhibition” at Simons Park next to the Wellesley Free Library. You can see some of the artisans prepping for the project here.
(When I first heard about this event a while back my first thought was: I know a few records in our house that I’d love to donate and have made inoperable through painting.)
The free art project will take place from 9am-3pm on Saturday, May 17 and people of all ages are invited to join in. No particular art expertise is needed and supplies will be provided.
Also, the artisans are looking for a few good DJ’s to spin LPs during the event. Sound equipment and vinyl will be provided.
The project is a follow-up to last year’s successful community quilting project that took place during Wellesley’s Wonderful Weekend.
