Antoinette (Toni) Jolley has been named interim principal at Bates Elementary School, effective July 1. She replaces David Ieong, who announced his resignation recently after 3 years on the job.
Jolley is currently a literacy specialist in Wellesley, a position she has held since 2013. Prior to her arrival in Wellesley, Jolley worked with the Boston school system. She has degrees from Duke and Harvard.
Separately, Superintendent David Lussier announced that grade 1 enrollments have been re-opened at Hardy and Fiske schools, which have opened new sections in light of registration trends and a lack of space at other schools. Lussier alerted the community in May that grade 1 enrollments had been shut down at those schools as well as at Upham. Kindergarten enrollment at Hardy remains closed.
