Here’s the official notice from Wellesley officials that you’ve all been waiting for…As of 2:20pm Thursday, a reverse 911 call was in the process of being delivered. Word of the problem started swirling on social media around noon.
Wellesley Police added these gory details: “Ice or any beverages prepared with un-boiled tap water on or after August 19th should be discarded as a precaution. A water sample tested positive for e.coli. This bacteria may cause diarrhea, cramps, nausea; headaches, or other symptoms. People with increased risks or concerns should seek advice from their healthcare providers.”
Wellesley Public Schools Superintendent David Lussier also notified the public that announcements have been made at the schools, which are being prepped for next week’s opening, not to “consume water or use it for handwashing. We are turning off all water fountains and placing signs in each of our restrooms.”
