One result of The Belclare luxury condo/retail building going up on Washington Street in Wellesley is that The Rotunda Building next door is suddenly looking a lot smaller.
For those of you who have never stepped foot inside, here are a few photos. The Grove Street/Washington Street brick building, also known as the Morton Block, houses a jeweler, real estate company, second-hand store and assorted doctors and lawyers.
As for the building’s history, it had been the site of the Julia Slack homestead, which was razed in 1929 to make way for this commercial block. Some old-timers might recall the location as formerly housing Seiler’s Restaurant, where Anderson’s Jewelers is now.
