Wellesley Square was glittering last night with Christmas lights, leaving some to wonder whether downtown retailers were really jumping the gun with holiday displays. Reader BK sent along this photo of guys hanging up lights and another local snapped a shot and posted it to Twitter.
There’s literally a Christmas movie being filmed in Wellesley Center rn…. pic.twitter.com/fncVSQBJXp

From what we understand the commotion was caused by the Connecticut State Lottery filming a commercial. And this isn’t the first time they’ve done this either.
Why Wellesley? Not sure. (And why the lottery sells 3 Stooges scratch tickets, we don’t know either.)
Would be nice though if the Connecticut lottery would donate big bucks to Wellesley, as does the Massachusetts one (more than $1M last year).
Anyway, we happened by the clean-up crews on Thursday morning in the square and near the Wellesley Square train station.
