The North 40 Steering Committee recommends that the Wellesley Board of Selectmen buy the Wellesley College property along Weston Road and Rte. 135 for municipal purposes:
“The Committee has three core findings in making this recommendation: the site for over 130 years has been utilized as a Town asset and failure to acquire the site would be a loss for Wellesley residents; the site’s size and location as exhibited in this report can serve a variety of municipal needs; and third party development of the site may severely impact the Town’s infrastructure with regards to traffic and elementary school student population.”
You can read the full report, which is part of a 185-page “book” (!) issued to Town Meeting Members from the Advisory and North 40 Steering Committees. Advisory will make its recommendation closer to the date of the Special Town Meeting, which starts on Oct. 27.
