The Wellesley School Committee has posted a largely glowing evaluation of how Wellesley Public School Superintendent David Lussier fared in his second year on the job.
Overall, he earned a rating as being “Proficient,” leaving room for improvement to “Exemplary.”
The committee rated Lussier especially high on bringing a professional culture to the district and is optimistic that ambitious learning goals will be achieved. The committee also loves Lussier’s communications skills (we like them too, though would like to see him trust others within WPS to interact with the big bad media without running everything through his office first).
“There is a lot of work to be done but David Lussier has made great strides in a short time. Given proper time David Lussier and his team will have significant impact on the success of WPS children’s future,” the report states. Also: “Dr. Lussier’s strength is in setting a vision and high expectations for staff, community and students. He is bold and aggressive in his goals for the WPS. The biggest challenge going forward will be the management of change, which is never easy. Although we greatly appreciate his dedication to the WPS 24/7, we are concerned about the sustainability of such a pace.”
