Republican gubernatorial candidate Charlie Baker beat out Democrat Martha Coakley in Wellesley on Tuesday by a vote count of 6,088 votes to 4,619 (28% margin), much more handily than he won in the state overall (48%-47%).
The Wellesley numbers are according to the unofficial town totals and amounted to 68% of eligible voters going to the polls (hand counted and overseas votes not yet included, though are expected to total 50 or fewer).
Wellesley’s Mike Heffernan fell to Deb Goldberg in the Treasurer’s race, despite defeating her in town.
On the ballot questions, Wellesleyites voted No on 1 (gas tax), No on 2 (expanded bottle bill), Yes on 3 (gaming limits) and Yes on 4 (sick time). Wellesley voters were consistent with those from across the state on Questions 2 and 4, but not on 1 and 3.
