Congrats to Wellesley High School senior Julia Wall, who on Sunday, Nov. 16, will be honored as only the 20th Girl Scout in Wellesley‘s history to earn the organization’s highest honor: The Gold Award.
The Gold Award can only be completed by high school girl scouts, called Ambassadors, in their junior and senior years. After completing two pre-requisite projects, called journeys, the scout undertakes a seven-step community service project that requires a minimum of 80 hours of work, permission from the Girl Scout Council, and the most difficult part… it must be self-sustaining. Wall’s project involved establishing a Sunday visitation program for the residents of Seton Hall.
A Gold Award ceremony will take place from 4-5:30pm at the Wellesley Community Center (due to space constraints, this will be open only to registered girl scouts, who should RSVP to belindaharter2@gmail.com). All are welcome to a reception from 5:30-6:30pm.
Girl Scout Flag, Candle, Promise and Law Ceremonies, along with award presentations from dignitaries from the State House and GS Council will take place, along with trumpet playing.
