New England Revolution soccer player Chris Tierney, who grew up in Wellesley, on Saturday afternoon at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough helped send his team to the league championship game by making an excellent cross to teammate Charlie Davies that resulted in the goal that tied the score vs. the New York Red Bulls at 2-2. The Revs needed only a tie to win the series and advance to next weekend’s MLS Cup vs. Seattle or LA.
Tierney debuted with the Revs in 2008. He earlier played soccer for Noble & Greenough and the University of Virginia.
