Wellesley was once again a magnet for the well-known in 2014. Among our prestigious visitors this past year:
*Wellesley College alum and former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright visited her alma mater a few times, including to show off her many pins.
*Civil rights activist Ruby Bridges shared her stories with students
*Former Boston Bruins star defenseman Bobby Orr, who signed books.
*Boston Pops conductor Keith Lockhart rehearsed with Wellesley High Students in preparation for holiday shows in Boston.
*The Office’s BJ Novak, who signed books
*House of Sand and Fog author Andre Dubus III read from his latest book at Wellesley Free Library.
*Author Zadie Smith visited Wellesley College as part of its author series.
*Actor Will Ferrell, who showed up at a Wellesley High basketball game.
*Actors Brooke Adams and Tony Shalhoub showed off their talents at Babson College.
*Singer Carly Simon and family members performed at Wellesley College, in connection with Simon’s daughter’s art exhibit.
*Boston Mayor Thomas Menino visited Wellesley College in the Spring to discuss activism, but had to cancel a book tour stop when his health declined near the end of the year, shortly before he passed away.
*Boston Celtics players Kelly Olynyk and Jared Sullinger took part in basketball camps, and maybe even swung by the home of their coach, Brad Stevens, who lives in town.
*Pop singer Charli XCX performed at Babson.
