The Wellesley Historical Society continues its new free Winter Wednesdays drop-in program series for kids on Wednesday, Jan. 14 from 1-3pm with a very special guest: Revolutionary War re-enactor Tom Dietzel.
Not to be confused with New England Patriot QB Tom Brady, Dietzel actually has gotten some action at Gillette Stadium as part of the End Zone Militia that helps fans celebrate the home team’s scores, according to his bio on a Boston Freedom Trail tour site. (Wellesley Middle School history teacher and re-enactor Michele Chayka is also a tour guide for this oufit.)
This Wednesday’s program, “A Day in the Life of a Revolutionary War Soldier,” will give participants a chance to interact with Dietzel to learn what everyday life was like for a soldier fighting in the American Revolution. What did soldiers wear? What kinds of weapons did they use? Where did they sleep, and what did they eat?
