Two big rinks for skating and hockey, and one smaller rink for tots, have been set up at the outdoor basketball court near Wellesley High School. Given this week’s big freeze, the rinks could be ready to use by Saturday or Sunday.
The Recreation Department rinks, sponsored by Needham Bank, were erected by the Department of Public Works. The Fire Department then filled them up to create a safe skating environment in town (and sent along these photos, by way of Recreation).
Speaking of rinks, the 900 Worcester Street Committee held a public meeting at Town Hall on Tuesday night to hear from two outfits proposing to build indoor rinks in town at the Rte. 9 East location. You can catch a replay of the meeting on Wellesley Media.
