Wellesley doctor Michael J. Davidson died late Tuesday, the victim of a shooting earlier in the day at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, where he worked.
Davidson, 44, is survived by 3 children and his wife, who is pregnant, according to local news reports. The Yale-educated doctor was director of endovascular cardiac surgery at the hospital and an assistant professor at Harvard Medical School.
Boston police are investigating the incident, but reports have surfaced that the gunman targeted Davidson in relation to surgery he had performed on the gunman’s mother.
Local reports say that Davidson was an enthusiastic runner, having done the Boston Marathon when he turned 40. He also played in a band called Off Label with other local medical professionals (Davidson shown on the far left, in photo shoot at Wellesley Hills clock tower).
Our thoughts go out to Davidson’s family, friends and co-workers.
