You can now register for free tickets (donations accepted) to see jazz tenor sax player, composer and arranger Benny Golson perform at Wellesley College’s Jewett Auditorium on March 14 at 8pm.
Golson will play with Hey Rim Jeon, piano, Ron Mahdi, bass, and Ralph Peterson, drums.
Golson has played in the bands of Benny Goodman, Dizzy Gillespie, Lionel Hampton, and Art Blakey, among others. He is the only living jazz artist to have written eight standards for jazz repertoire. He has recorded over 30 albums for many recording companies in the U.S. and Europe under his own name and with other major artists. In all, Golson has written well over 300 compositions. He is also passionate about teaching jazz to young and old alike.
There will be a Q/A session with the artists after the performance, followed by a reception in the Pendleton East Atrium.
