The Reverend Sarah Sarchet Butter this past weekend was introduced as the 18th Senior Pastor of Village Church in Wellesley Square. She plans to start full-time in August.
There hasn’t been much churn among Senior Pastors at the congregational church in recent times. Rev. Butter replaces Martin Copenhaver, who had served as pastor since 1994 and left last year.
Rev. Butter and her family are moving here from the Chicago area, where she was Senior Pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Wilmette. Butter has been an ordained minister for 22 years.
The selection committee said she was a unanimous choice, despite Boston sports knowledge not being her bread-and-butter (she didn’t originally know who Gronk or Big Papi was). The congregation gave the Reverend a standing ovation on Sunday upon approving her selection.
