Wellesley's Wonderful Weekend

This colorful Wellesley storyteller is no bust

Julia de Peyster, Nomad Story Slam
Storyteller Julia de Peyster

Seventeen brave souls shared tales — some funny, some sad, some meandering — at last month’s Nomad Story Slam just across the Wellesley Lower Falls line at Newton’s Gregorian Rugs. The theme of stories was “Moving On.”

We saw a smattering of Wellesley friends at event, most of whom were there to sit on folding chairs or carpet piles, sip some wine or sparkly water, and listen to the stories.

But we did identify one of Wellesley’s finest, Julia de Peyster, who shared a story that the Nomadic Theater has listed as “My Nursing Bra” and that de Peyster has referred to as “My Maiden(form) Voyage into Storytelling and Standup.”

Videos of the performances are now available on Youtube. Here’s de Peyster’s amusing story (forward to the 8:24 mark in video below):

The Newton Nomadic Theater has another Story Slam slated for May 22 and there likely will be another between now and then as well.
