Author honored at Sprague School’s A-Cat-emy Awards

Sprague school exterior, summer 2013Sprague School held its 8th annual A-Cat-emy Awards on Friday, and the celebrity teacher and students worked it along the blue carpet. The event celebrates Read Across America Dr. Seuss Day by presenting ‘A-Cat-emy Awards’ for categories that include, Grade K/1 Favorite Book, Grade 2/3 Best Book Series, and Grade 4/5 Favorite Dr. Seuss Character.

A special award was given to local author Ruthie Knapp for her children’s book, Who Stole Mona Lisa? In her acceptance speech, Mrs. Knapp spoke of her inspirations behind the book and encouraged students to tell their stories.
