The Wellesley STEM Expo packed them in on a snowy Saturday, giving families something fun to do.
Among the things we learned: It’s easier for kids than adults to get the hang of a segway; sheep brains look a lot like human brains; Chinese people used to build things using a technique that hasn’t worked well for our bathroom cabinet doors; no monkeys were harmed in the development of prosthetic eyes for the blind by keynote speaker Dr. Sheila Nirenberg’s team; WHS is going to have to add more computer science choices (so said a kid who once played baseball with ours and is now part of a white hat hacking team at the school); and that mice with hormone mutations can become obese.
