Wouldn’t you love to draw a picture of that 7am leaf-blowing neighbor or that nice lady across the street whose dog keeps dirtying up your daisies? Well, you’ll sort of have your chance to do that at this year’s edition of Art in Park during Wellesley’s Wonderful Weekend. Except that we’re talking good vibes in this case.
Here’s how it will work:
On Saturday, May 16, from 1-4pm at Simons Park next to the Wellesley Free Library the community-oriented Wellesley Women Artisans invite you to come and draw your neighbors. In the past, this group has led public weaving and vinyl record decorating projects.
This time around, artisan group members will take your Polaroid picture, have you share three easy facts about yourself, and put them in an envelope. You’ll then receive a random envelope from someone you’ve never met and have the chance to sit down and draw the person’s picture. All ages and levels of art experience welcome. All materials will be provided.
There will be a temporary gallery on site to share the pictures.
The idea for Neighbors Drawing Neighbors originated with artist Ivan Cash’s event at the Sundance Film Festival this year, Strangers Drawing Strangers.
