In honor of pets and the people who love them, Unleashed by Petco will host its Dash for Pet Cancer 5K and Fun Run – benefitting the Petco Foundation’s Pet Cancer Awareness Campaign – on Saturday, May 30 at Elm Bank Reservation on the Wellesley/Dover/Natick lines. The event celebrates the conclusion of Pet Cancer Awareness Month, which aims to build awareness and drive support to find a cure of the No. 1 disease-related killer of dogs and cats.
All proceeds from the event benefit the PCA campaign, which funds pet cancer research and clinical studies, and help families with the costs of treatment.
The event is also an opportunity to focus on the health of pet owners and pet lovers. Studies find that dog owners exercise more regularly than those without a dog, and exercising with a pet can reduce stress, improve heart health and lower cholesterol.
The race starts at 10am, and runners/pets who dress up and race will be available for special prizes.
It costs $30 to register in advance (includes T-shirt) or $40 day of race. More info: https://racewire.com/register.php?id=5122
The road race schedule in Wellesley has been packed this spring, with the Schofield 5K on June 7 rounding things out.
