344, the women’s clothing store at 68 Central St., in Wellesley Square, is closing its doors.
A reliable Swellesley tipster told us this would be the case several weeks back, but our inquiry to the store’s “customer service” email address in mid-May went unanswered.
The shop’s arrival in town must not have made a huge impression on us, since we can’t find a post about it in our archives, but we did report in 2008 that a store called Jasmine Sola vacated 68 Central St.
344’s Facebook, Instagram and blog pages have all been dormant for months, which probably wasn’t a good sign. The business lists 4 store locations on its website: Boston, Hingham, Peabody and Wellesley.
Might Starbucks next door use this opportunity to expand its Wellesley Square store? One tipster says yes, though Starbucks’ corporate media relations says: “Starbucks is always looking for great locations to better meet the needs of our customers and we are continually evaluating our store portfolio. Unfortunately, at this time we have no information to share about a potential store expansion in Wellesley.”
