Imagine my surprise after looking up the website for incoming Wellesley Square store Bobbles & Lace to find that this is not a men’s shop.
Bobbles & Lace in July will be sliding into the space at 93 Central St., that had been occupied for the past 20 or so years by Abigail’s Children’s Boutique.
Bobbles & Lace, which sells fashionable women’s clothes and accessories, has five other locations (Andover, Boston, Marblehead, Newburyport and Portsmouth, NH) listed on its website. The business was started by an aunt and niece, the former of which gained attention with her jewelry pushcart on Newbury Street and the latter of which is a stylist and model.
The proprietors say they “are deeply dedicated to the idea that high fashion doesn’t need to come at a high cost.” Jeans from Bobbles & Lace run you $60-$70 and earrings can be had for as little as $10. And indeed, they do sell lacy stuff, as their name implies.
(Thanks to reader WT for giving us a heads up about this new store.)
