Ticket prices for the Grateful Dead‘s supposedly final shows, to be played this summer in Santa Clara and Chicago, have been sky high, making it even tough for Wellesley Deadheads to justify the cost and trek.
Perhaps some small consolation: Wellesley has included a Grateful Dead tribute band called DeadBeat in its series of free summer concerts held on Town Hall green. The band plays on July 22 at 7pm.
The first of seven free outdoor concerts on the Town Hall green will be held on June 24 from 7-8:30pm, featuring Your Community Band.
Hot dogs, drinks and snacks are sold by the Rotary Club. Children’s games are coordinated by Knucklebones.
Here’s the full schedule for the summer:
July 1: Grounds for Divorce (Bad boys of suburban rock)
July 8: The Reminisants (oldies)
July 15: BaHa Brothers (summertime party band)
July 22: DeadBeat (Grateful Dead Tribute Band)
July 29: Tom Nutile’s Big Band (Swing)
Aug. 5: Glamour Girls (Dance hits of 40s-90s)
