Readers have been asking about the town’s definition of “temporary” as it relates to those handsome orange “No Parking: Temporary Police Order” signs planted in the Home Depot buckets along Wellesley Avenue from the round-about to Fuller Brook Path. We believe the signs have been up since there was still snow, and combined with additional signs during Wellesley’s Wonderful Weekend, they produced a colorful display challenging that of the fireworks.

It turns out the orange signs were erected in response to complaints by residents in the area this past winter when high school students started parking there, according to Wellesley Police. The Board of Selectmen last week voted to make both sides of Wellesley Avenue from the round-about to Fuller Brook path “Seasonal Parking,” defined as no parking, Monday through Friday, between 7:30am-1pm from Sept. 1 to June 15.
So, the temporary parking order signs will be removed after school finishes next week and then go back up before school restarts after summer break.
