We’re sad to report that Michael James Stedman, who lived in Wellesley since the mid-1970s, died on June 20.
We wrote about Mr. Stedman 3 years ago when he published his first novel, a spy thriller called “A for Argonaut” that takes readers from Fort Bragg in Texas to Antwerp to the Congo. He had planned to publish at least a couple more books as part of a series featuring the same main character, Mack Maran.
Stedman’s career included newspaper journalism and competitive intelligence, and he served as a US Army Reserve soldier. Stedman enjoyed international travel, fishing and volunteering, including as president of the Rotary Club of Wellesley.
He is survived by his wife Barbara as well as his three children and their families.
Services were held earlier this week. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Gillian Reny Stepping Strong Fund, giving.brighamandwomens.org/stepping-strong-fund, and Rotary Club of Wellesley, P.O. Box 81206, Wellesley Hills, MA 02481
