Back in 2013, we reported that Bob and Phyllis Totaro, owners of J. Todd Galleries in Wellesley Square and Chatham, were looking to sell off their decades-old business to someone who could keep it thriving and enable them to transition into a “gradual, eventual retirement.”
Looks like that time has come with their announcement that after 33 years in Wellesley, their business has been acquired. New owner Mona Kumar, a Coldwell Banker real estate sales associate, is no stranger to the art world. She graduated from Boston University with a degree in digital film making and was the founder of Boston’s South Asian Film Festival, which took place at the Museum of Fine Arts in 2011. She has also served on the museum’s Fashion Council. Over the years, Kumar has gifted the MFA with more than just her organizational talents. She has donated a couple of beautiful sari ensembles to the museum, enhancing its textiles collection
The Totaros have held onto their Chatham Gallery on Cape Cod, which has been renamed Chatham Fine Art.
