The University of Massachusetts Boston hockey rink is going to be named after Eddie Barry, a Wellesley High school alum from the 1930s who went on to play a few games for the Boston Bruins and later went into the insurance business. Barry started the men’s hockey program at Boston State College in the early 1960s, and was the program’s only head coach until the school merged with UMass 20 years later. The Boston Globe catches up with Barry here.
