Wellesley’s Cathy Merlo will play Calliope, a jealous muse bent on taking revenge against fellow muse Clio, in Moonstruck Theater Company/Amazing Things Art Center’s presentation of Xanadu in Framingham. There will be 7 shows between Friday, July 24 and Sunday, August 2.
Based on the cult-classic Olivia Newton-John film, Xanadu follows the journey of a magical and beautiful Greek muse, Clio, who descends from the heavens of Mt. Olympus to Venice Beach, California in 1980 on a quest to inspire a struggling artist, Sonny, to achieve the greatest artistic creation of all time – the first roller disco. But, when Clio falls into forbidden love with the mortal Sonny, her jealous sisters take advantage of the situation and chaos abounds.
Merlo, when not on the stage, is a career advisor for graduate students at Babson College, and has been a part of over 30 community theater productions.
The production will be presented at Amazing Things Art Center, 160 Hollis St, Framingham, MA. Tickets are $25 for general admission, $24 for senior citizens and students, $22 for Amazing Things Members, and $13 for children 12 and under.
