From Wellesley Veterans’ Office:
For many years the Military Order of the Purple Heart, MOPH, has been encouraging communities and states around the country to declare themselves to be Purple Heart Communities. To honor these brave men and women, those who were injured in the service and those who made the ultimate sacrifice and gave their life for our country, the Wellesley Board of Selectmen has accepted a recommendation to become a Purple Heart Community.
On Monday, Aug. 3 at 5:15 p.m. at the Board of Selectmen meeting, members from the Military Order of the Purple Heart will make the Purple Heart Community presentation. Then on August 7th of each year, in honor of Purple Heart Day, the Town of Wellesley will fly the Purple Heart Flag at Town Hall.
