You know when the fencing and caution tape go up, things are about to get noisy.
This photo is of the Rollins Lot that Wellesley College sold for $3.5M in October to Northland Residential, which plans to plunk down 5 houses on the 1.7 acres that sits between Cottage Street and Leighton Road. For those of you thinking we needed just one more CVS in town, sorry, that’s not happening on this spot.
Northland is shaking up the Wellesley landscape of late, including via a big development on Great Plains Avenue (Rte. 135) near the Recycling & Disposal Facility. Though Wellesley College assures us that “Northland, based in Burlington, Mass., has a reputation for working well with neighbors, preserving existing trees, and building LEED-certified and Energy Star-rated homes.”
Whoever lived/lives in the house at the corner of Leighton Road and Washington Street isn’t sticking around to find out though: We noticed a Sale Pending sign in front of that house when we drove past it on Sunday.
For some historical perspective on the Rollins Lot, read Joshua Dorin’s Wellesley History blog post on the topic.
