The Wellesley Society of Artists (WSA) is sponsoring a free demo on Sept. 27 where you can get a look at landscape painter Maris Platais doing his thing. The Society says the event, from 2-4pm at the Wellesley Community Center (219 Washington St.), should be fun for artists and non-artists alike.
Platais, who was born in Latvia but has lived in New England since 1947, will demonstrate painting with acrylics. His work has been exhibited all across the country, including at the Museum of Fine Arts (MFA) and the Worcester Art Museum in this area. In addition, he has taught many art classes, including at the MFA.
