Wellesley’s first responders attended to a 70-year-old man late Monday morning who was rolled over by his own vehicle at the Wellesley Recycling and Disposal Facility. Wellesley Police shared these details:
Upon arrival officers learned that a 70 year old Wellesley resident had backed his vehicle into a spot to unload the contents, attempted to engage the parking break and exited the vehicle. Either as the male party was exiting or immediately after exiting the vehicle he realized as the vehicle began rolling forward that the parking break was not property engaged. He attempted to stop the vehicle from rolling forward by holding onto the door of the vehicle. He was knocked down by the door as it continued to roll forward and then was struck by the front driver side tire of the vehicle. Two bystanders moved the vehicle, freeing the male party. He was then transported to a Boston area hospital via Medflight with suspected internal injuries.
No further information is available at this time and the name of the victim is not being released at this time.
(A Swellesley reader on our Facebook page said he was on the scene and that 4 to 6 people helped to lift the truck off the man’s chest.)
I was there and talked to the older man after moving locals and family friends moved his truck off him. Then I was relieved when helped arrived. Short lived thoughts. Then as I watched the tea party standing over Ed conversing for about 7-10 minutes. All I could think about was when will these officials going to decide to roll him on to the stretcher and get him to a hospital. As soon as they had enough trained responders. Someone should have taken charge and directed someone to arms hip legs well someone sustain his head from moving. Instead of stand over and converse while man in is bleeding from mouth and in pain due to heavy trauma. But that’s what I was told when I was training for EMS. Atleast they tried to give it a shot
He’s right.most people just stood around talking some were taking pics.I took my shirt off and put it under his head.and kept my hand on his shoulder.but yes many stood around and he could have been helped faster.and it was about 6people who helped move truck.but started with one man trying to push the truck while screaming for help.
I just want to thank you all for helping my dad. It means so much. He broke all his ribs on one side and punctured lung, but he is alive!
