Wellesley Farms attempted home break-in: 1 suspect nabbed, 2 on loose

September 23, 2015 by Bob Brown 2 Comments

Police have arrested one suspect and are seeking two others in connection with an attempted break-in on Glen Road in Wellesley that created quite a scene: reportedly about a dozen police cars, cops with guns drawn, the K-9 unit, and state police on the ground and in the air. I saw 4 or 5 emergency vehicles whiz past me on Washington Street around that time, and when I returned from a run, had a handful of inquiries from Swellesley readers about what the heck was going on.

Here’s what Wellesley police said happened:

Wellesley police received a 911 call from a Glen Road resident at 1:21 pm who stated there were two suspicious male subjects outside of her residence.  Shortly before, the resident said she heard her doorbell ring and looked out and observed a male party she did not recognize. Believing he was attempting to sell something, she did not answer the door. She indicated that her doorbell rang several more times before the male party began walking around the perimeter of the house. She then observed a second male party being dropped off from a vehicle who walked directly to the rear of the house. While on the phone with the dispatchers, the victim heard what sounded like an attempt to open the rear door which was locked. She then heard a loud noise emanating from the garage area and believed one or both of the male subjects made entry into her residence.

The victim immediately exited the residence. An officer who was working a detail in the area was the first officer to arrive on scene. The two suspects fled on foot and it is believed that one of the males possibly jumped out of a window on the second floor of the residence.

Several officers responded to the area and began an extensive search. With the assistance of the Massachusetts State Police K9 and Air Wing, all properties and wooded areas in the vicinity of the residence were thoroughly checked.

Officers also searched the Farms train station and while doing so observed a male party who fit the description of one of the suspects. The male party fled on foot and was later located on the property of another residence on Glen Road and taken into custody on outstanding warrants. This party was identified as a 34-year-old from Lynn, MA. In addition to the warrants he is being charged with Breaking and Entering in the Daytime with the Intent of Committing a Felony and Trespassing on a Railway.

It is believed that there were three male suspects involved in this incident. Officers are working to identify the other two individuals involved. When officers began speaking with neighbors it was learned that two male parties had gone to several residences on Crestwood shortly before this home invasion occurred.

A Reverse 911 call was made to residents in the area to inform them of what transpired. We are requesting the public’s assistance in identifying the other two subjects. If anyone in the Farms section of Wellesley had an individual come to their home on Tuesday, perhaps with a false story of delivering package we would be interested in speaking with them. Please contact the Wellesley Police Department at 781-235-1212 if you have any information regarding these two individuals.

The victim was not injured during home invasion and nothing was taken from the residence.

This incident is still under investigation.

Do police think these are the same individuals who broke into (or attempted to break into) two homes in the the Wellesley Hills area a couple months ago? This was in the area of Ashmont & McLean streets. It was at night though, not the middle of the day.
