An international group of scholars, cultural heritage specialists, and journalists will convene at Wellesley College on Sept. 24 to address the ongoing destruction of ancient artifacts in Syria and Iraq. The event, dubbed Erasing the Past: Da’esh and the Crisis of Antiquities Destruction, brings together experts on the region’s ancient past and current challenges to meet, inform the public about the scope of the crisis, and discuss how best to advocate for threatened scholars, artifacts, and cultural institutions.
