The Empty Space Theater (TEST) begins its 2015 season with the 1990 musical Falsettoland, with music and lyrics by William Finn, book by James Lapine, and direction by Chicago-area director Tom Mullen. This musical tells the story of Marvin, who has left his wife for another man. As the play begins, Marvin and his lover are separated, his ex-wife has married Marvin’s psychiatrist, and Marvin’s son is planning his bar mitzvah. During the course of the play, Marvin reunites with his lover, only to find that he has a mysterious illness. The play celebrates religious tradition, love, and the true meaning of family at a time when AIDS was beginning its insidious spread. Music Direction by Babson professor Sandra Graham, the cast includes Babson and Wellesley students as well as professionally trained actors. Performances: October 29, 30, and 31 at 7:30 p.m. and November 1 at 2p.m., at Carling-Sorenson Theater, Babson College 231 Forest Street, Wellesley MA.
