We came across this painting online titled Shady Pond by Waban Lake, Wellesley Ma., by Boston artist Michael William. The original painting is oil paint on masonite panel, about 10″ x 10″, and can be purchased on Etsy for $129.99
In his artist’s bio, William says that he paints on a small scale, not spending more than a few days on each piece, and that he chooses subjects that are simple and full of light. He often finds inspiration when he spots the light moving a certain way such as “…when I’m sitting by a lake and am suddenly moved by the warm summer weather and the natural beauty that surrounds me. I consciously try not to imbue these pieces with anymore than the innate beauty of the subject and the many times simple but powerful emotions that it has inspired in me.”
We are digging the interplay of colors and the dreamy way the artist expresses one of our favorite areas in town for walking and thinking up our next post.
