New England Patriots’ defensive end Rob Ninkovich is slated to join in the festivities at Wellesley’s big Flag Football Fundraiser under the lights at Hunnewell Field on Saturday, Oct. 24.
Details are still being worked out about the specifics of what Ninkovich will be up to at the event.
Ninkovich has been a loyal supporter of Old School Pizzeria, and the fundraiser in part will raise monies for the Joe Perdoni Family Trust in honor of the Old School’s owner, who died earlier this year. The event, which will include flag football games for kids in grades 2 through 12, will raise funds for the Wellesley Field Fund in memory of Connor Darcey, as well as for Community Investors, a nonprofit that organizes youth sports activities and stresses leadership/mentoring.
Community Flag will include flag football under the lights, a silent auction and tailgate party. You can register for the event here. The original schedule has been reworked, with the elementary school game starting at 5 and the middle school game around 6. Organizers are hopeful that a game for 9-12th graders can be fielded as well.
Though the WHS team will be playing that afternoon at home vs. Milton in a match-up of undefeated teams.
