Wellesley police investigating incident involving person hit by train

UPDATE: 10/2/15: MBTA Transit Police tell the Globe that the 74-year-old woman who was hit by the train, possibly after falling on the tracks while walking across them, is expected to recover from a leg injury suffered during the incident.

Wellesley Police said this afternoon they — as well as the MBTA Transit Police — were responding to an incident involving a person struck by a train in the area of 231 Linden St., between the Wellesley Square and Wellesley Hills commuter rail stops. Non-life threatening injuries were reported.

Earlier reports on social media indicated a person had fallen from a bridge onto the tracks, but not been hit.

The MBTA has been issuing updates about train delays as a result of the incident.
