The Wellesley Symphony under Maestro Max Hobart will open its season with a concert featuring the music of Ludwig van Beethoven on Sunday, Oct. 18 at 3PM. So yes, you can catch some fine music during the day and still enjoy the Patriots’ game at night.
Concert pianist Sonya Ovrutsky Fensome will join the orchestra in Piano Concerto No. 1. The program opens with the Egmont Overture and ends with the well-known Fifth Symphony.
Sonya Ovrutsky Fensome gained widespread recognition upon winning the International Competition in Senigalia, Italy at age 15. She was later invited to study at the Juilliard School of Music as a full scholarship recipient. Throughout her career, Ovrutsky Fensome has performed in major art centers in the United States including Weill Carnegie Concert Hall, Lincoln Center Alice Tully Hall, Philadelphia Kimmel Center, and the Aspen Music Festival. Her European tours have taken her to Brussels, Lucerne, Moscow, Madrid, Barcelona, and Rome, among others.

They are $25 for adults, $20 for seniors and students, and free for children under 12. The concert is at 3 PM at MassBay Community College, 50 Oakland Street, where there is plenty of free parking. WSO Board President Leslie Holmes will give a pre-concert talk at 2:15 PM.
