Woman hit by car at Routes 9 and 16 in Wellesley

October 22, 2015 by Deborah Brown Leave a Comment

Scene of pedestrian/car accident, WelleseyA 72-year old pedestrian was hit by a motor vehicle on the ramp from Route 16 East to Route 9 East in front of 422 Worcester Street, near Axiom Learning Center, during the busy morning commute time. The woman was conscious when she was transported by ambulance to a Beth Israel hospital, where she is being treated for unknown injuries. The driver of the vehicle has been cooperating with police, who have taped off the area in order to document the scene. As of 10:15am police were still not allowing traffic to access Route 9 from the accident scene. As of that time, traffic was backed up on the eastbound side of Route 16 all the way to the Hunnewell Field tennis courts.

The incident is currently under investigation by the Wellesley Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit.

Thanks to WBZ’s Suzy Steimle, who was on the scene reporting for WBZ Channel 4, for sharing information with us.
